I have never married myself. I am yet to attain legal age for marriage, here in India it is 21. I am still a few days away from it. I am excited, I am not going to marry at least for four years from now, but it sounds exciting, but it is an important decision to make. One false move may ruin your life.

Many people get married for "love", or at least societies portrayal of love. I think you honestly need to find someone that will work with you, compromise and meet you half way with everything. You have to have mutual respect and a genuine caring for this purpose. You can be happily happily married even if your not "in love". You need to marry to make your life and your partner's life better. Divorce rates in the US anyways are around 58-63% now, this I feel is due to immaturity within the "love" feelings. Marrying because you enjoy being with that person for a couple years, is good, but you should also be able to go to work, cook, clean, go on vacation, most important take care of each other is all essential.
Wishing to never be married is like saying "I Love You" now-a-days you say i love you one day and say i hate you another.
SOCIETIES LOVE + MARRIAGE = DIVORCE.
Lets build upon strong morals, and mutual respect, with genuine care for each other, and steer from lust and love.

Excellent point Subaru
At the time I met the woman that I wuold marry I didn't even have the ability to love. I had gone through way too much abuse growing up so I think I actually picked her because she was understanding and patient.
It worked and we are still married 24 years later. 25 years April 2007
thanks for the great response

My experience.... too long to share but even though I am separated, I would say I learned a lot from the marriage and it has made me a better person.
If you were to ask me if I could change it, I really don't know if I would. That would be a tough answer and am glad I will never have the opportunity to go back in time and make that decision. I'm happy the way things are now and will only look forward, not backwards.
