Does it make the world go round or is it the root of all evil? Do we need it to survive or could we go back to the days of bartering? Is their too much surplus money in the world and what can we do to help even it out if this is so.

Money, although it is undoubtedly involved in a lot of evil in the world, is not, in itself, the root of all evil. The Bible says the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. If it is used wisely and we are generous with any surplus we have, money can be a very good thing. The trouble is, most of us don't think we have any surplus, because we have too many things we think we should have beyond our basic needs.
I would hate to go back to bartering. Imagine having to carry huge bags or even truckloads of everything just to trade for our usual shopping cart full of groceries. Money in the form we now have it is a lot more convenient.

Actually, most of the kids I know have very little idea about the value of money. They have it, spend it, and want more. The ones that value money and use wisdom in spending it are the ones that have to earn it themselves.

Money is really just a proxy for the goods and services that used to be bartered. It prevents us from having to haul bricks around to go buy something. And I don't think there's too much money in the world, the existence of money isn't really that important. The distribution does have an impact on a lot of economic and social events. I think that some individuals or companies have more than they need and many people don't have enough.
