I do not know what style of housing you are living in, but it may also help to get a heating element for your pipes and some pipe insulation. Once they become unfrozen when you go to bed at night leave your water dripping so they do not refreeze during the night. It also may help to get a larger fan blown heater and if you have a crawl space under the house set the heater to blow underneath the house to help speed the unfreezing process. If all else fails and you have access to your pipes take a hair dryer to them. Thankfully I haven't had this problem in a long time. Sorry about your luck, I hope your pipes unfreeze soon.

Ugh, frozen pipes are the worst. Do you have a friend that could install a heat tape for you or thaw them out with a blowtorch? I remember my father thawing our pipes out in that manner one year when it got this cold. I was just telling my husband that I need gloves to sit at my computer this week. It's currently 8 degrees outside, with a windchill of -15. All schools in our area were closed today because of windchill/frostbite warnings.

That is horrible, I do not ever suffere from this since I am in an area that does not freeze often. I have had pipes burst though and it was a nightmare. I know when we are going to have a freeze we always open all our doors where the pipes are under the sinks and let them get heated by the warmth of the home. we also keep water dripping. This one reason may be why I do not live in the North.
