an apple a day,keeps doc away..
do this is true in modern context??

Apples are rich in pectin. Pectin is a soluble fiber. There is one study that shows pectin in apples acts as antioxidants against the cholesterol in blood stream. It cleans the intestinal tracts as well. More info on pectin and apples here: www.bodybuilding.com/store/apec.html

It probably started out as something parents told their kids so that they would eat more apples:P..But it actually does have a meaning because unlike most other fruits apples actually contain a good amount of most of the vitamins childrens need to stay healthy. Maybe I'm overlooking it but in my eyes an apple a day does keep the doctor away..
