Pinball Tech Needed- 1986 Gottlieb Gold Wing Issue

I just bought a 1986 Premier/Gotttlieb Gold Wings Pinball and it is in terrific shape! The only problem that it has is that the credit knocker coil will not work. I pulled the old coil and discovered it was melted and burnt. So naturally I replaced it with a brand new coil thinking this would solve the problem, well it didn't. I need to know if anyone else knows of something that I could not be thinking of. I don't think there is a fuse on that circuit.
