Honking for fun

Did you ever honk your horn in a tunnel? My dad used to do it when I was a kid. Whenever we would go through a tunnel, under an overpass, anywhere with walls and something overhead, we would all call out, "Honk the horn." And he would. One long blast, several short ones. Other cars would do it too. Soon the tunnel would be filled with a symphony of horns echoing in the wonderful acoustics of a rock or cement tunnel.
The other day I was driving in the tunnel under McCarran International Airport. I hit the horn and held it. Everyone in the car thought I was crazy. But when I stopped, the car in front tooted twice. I honked back and soon we had a horn conversation going. It was great fun.
Have you ever done this? Or even heard of it?

I dont recall honking the horns but my friends and I used to roll all the windows down and yell underdog as loud and as long as we could. Occasionally we would hear someone else yelling it also

when i was younger, i have heard the show off from a large truck. it was fine at first but it took a couple of minutes before honking was off ..i guess the 'deaf' driver fell asleep for a moment

Yeah, I never did that, but I think itmust be very interesting. especially for kids. your father is such a nice father, I like him.
BTW, i think sometimes this action may annoy other people.They will think some thing happening in the tunnel.anyway, life needs some spice sometimes.

OOOOOHHHH !!! yes this is a blast to do ,everytime we go over to Mobile, Alabama we go through the tunnel there and my daughter just loves it ,she will get to laughing so hard we think we will bust a gut laughing at her... sometimes peple will honk back but not to much anymore ...oh well they just don't know how to have fun ...lol

I dad also use to do that when i was younger. you know something, to think about it he still does that. i'm turning 24 years old this year and have three kids, and when we go somewhere with my dad an he's driving, he still honks the horn... i think he's a kid at heart...lol

I admit to honking the horn in tunnels IF it is safe to do so.I love to hear the different sounds it will make.Of course by doing it at different times will make different sounds so it is like my own symphony.

we generally take pleasure honking at traffic signals and irritating the oldies ...for fun..but this idea seems cool.will try it surely.
