This question is something that I have seen a lot of from friends and our family. They make you feel like you are just lazy and don't want to work. Wish people could just show a consideration for people feelings. I have seen family specially they don't understand what it like going from hard working family to having you life ripped out off under you from a bad car accident that has almost crippled my hubby to me have surgery that went bad that has left me with a lot of health problems now. If nothing else hopefully this well remind people that other people have feelings to.

The reason why people mistreat other people is because:
1)it makes them feel superior knowing that they are physically better than the one who is disabled.
2)they can make you jealous by telling you the things that you can't do.
3)they think just because a person is disabled, the disabled person automatically goes one notch down on the social ladder.
The worst discrimination I saw done to a disabled person was in a mall. A beggar outside the mall was just asking for change money or for something to drink. The rich couple had one of those portable dogs like what Paris Hilton has. They treated that dog better than the beggar. When the beggar was persistently asking for donations both of them started kicking him. Good thing a lot of people saw that. The couple was charged for physical abuse, the broke the beggar's ribs. There also was a huge fine and they had to do community service for the disabled for 6 months. I know, I was part of the jury.

Thank you for you comment. I have gotten to the point that I try to not let it bother me. My bother got told if he had problem he didn't need to come around any more. Society judges to much against people.

In today's society, being disabled is considered to be a sign of weakness. If you do not have an obvious disability, people can not understand and feel you are just milking the system or faking it.
Many people do not realize the sting their words carry. It is as if we do not meet their standards so they can treat us like ...er....garbage.(probably a better word then I wanted to use).
Society in general seems to enjoy labelling everything nicely so they do not have to understand.

Very true society today treats people a lot worse now than years ago. Having a disability makes me realize just how bad people can be.
