I am having a lot of trouble with my internet. Its too slow. I can't watch any stuff on youtube and its really annoying me. The videos just keep pausing all the time and I get so frustrated. I don't know a whole lot about computers so I was just wondering if anyone knows what I can do to up the speed so that I can do the stuff I want to do without many annoyances. I have done the whole delete cookies and temporary internet files thing... is there something I've missed? This is a fairly new laptop, only a few months old.. I am just getting frustrated. Please help. Thanks.

Well, if you are on dialup, switch to DSL. =) Dialups are really slow connections. If you are on broadband and it is slow, try to ask your ISP if they are having some technical difficulties. If not, try to restart your PC or your modem. This may fix the problem. =)

Ok thanks for that. I am on broadband internet, so it shouldn't be this slow. sometimes it takes about 5-7 minutes to load a page.

Ally you need to make sure that you do a Disc Clean regular, Defrag once a week and also every Night you clear your Cookies. I hope you have Antivirus and Spyware protection there. But normally when it is slow you need to do those things that I have mentioned above

1. Clear out your temp files, cookies and cache. You can do this on IE from the tools tab.
2. Check your connections to make sure everything is hooked up right.
3. Are there any signal disturbances?
4. If seeing images isn't important, you can disable photos and such using the tool tab on the IE bar.
5. Open your task manager to see what other programs are running. You could have something running in the background that is slowing you down.
6. Call your provider and ask them what your maximum connection speed is and if there is a way you can improve it.
Good luck!

You should be defraging your computer every few months. I do not know how to do this as my husband keeps up the maintenance of ours. But this should be done to everyones computer . I sure it is easy to find out hoe to get this done. It usually takes us a half a day depending on how long the last one was done.
