Is Metallica the greates metal band ever?

What do you guys think? Is metallica the greatest metal band ever?
They were certainly the first ones to bring metal to the mainstream (maybe along with Iron Maiden)
and they still remain the largest selling metal act. Their Black Album sold more than 10 million copies in USA alone.
Plus, they've constantly reinvented themselves over the years and havent 'stuck' in a mold.
So I guess that makes thme the greatest meatl band of all time

I think it is because they have made so many great songs. They have made legends like master of puppets to name one. Also, that music is still admired 20 years later! This is in my opinion the greatest metal band ever because of what they have accomplished. I listen to disturbed which is a sort of metal band but there music doesn't last as long as metallica. If you had a poll, who knew what and the choices were metallica and disturbed, it would be a shoe in for metallica.
