Do you establish a shoes-off in the house?

Do you established a shoes-off in the house policy? Whether it's hard surface floor or a carpet, it needs to be cleaned. But cleaning is easier a less frequent if dirt and grime are left outside rather that tracked inside. Not only does a shoes-off-in-the-house rule save time and effort, but also cleaning products and frustration. If shoes must be worn, make sure they are wiped thoroughly on a mat outside the house. If children are barefoot, make sure their feet are clean before they come inside. The same goes for the dog's paws!

No, I am not parcel to the casual look of shoeless feet, I will take them off if I am asked to in the comfort of someone else's home, but will not require it of guest in my home, unless they are dripping with water or mud.

I am not barefoot if I am at home, I usually wear flip-flops, it makes me comfortable with this.

I am always trying to enforce this but for some reason I still find myself constantly sweeping and vacuuming. I put rugs at the doors and try to provide a place to sit at the entry to encourage people, like my husband, to sit and take they're shoes off. I can't stand it when people come over and don't even think of taking their shoes off. I think it's rude. Luckily we have a hard floor now so it's a little easier to clean.
