Hai Ravi, there's a forgotten man here and his name is Sir Richard Hadlee. Wasim Akram and some of the other bowlers mentioned (except kapil) have indulged in intimidating batsmen at one stage or the other in their career. They did so by bowling savage bouncers, toe crushers and staring hard and sledging. And we all know the ball tampering controversies. But Hadlee purely depended on his bowling skills to get his wickets. His measured run up, smooth action, follow through, line and length, ability to read batsmen's weakness and exploit them and adjusting the line and length according to the climate and pitch condition were all very exemplery. He was arguably the best corridor bowler the world has ever seen, even better than Dennis Lillee and Glen Mcgrath put together. In his last tour to India, our batsmen were dancing like puppets to his tune. Vengsarkar, who was those days' Dravid, was out pathetically clean bowled to a particular beautiful inswinging overpitched delivery after hadlee noted that he had a tendency to leave a small gap between his bat and the backfoot when he prepared to strike the ball everytime. The ball was bowled in such a beautiful fashion that all vengsarkar was able to do was to just helplessly stare at the trajectory and noting with dejection his stumps getting disarrayed, standing like a frozen man with his bat prepared for initiating the stroke. Out of desperation, a hard hitter from tamilnadu called VB Chandrasekar was specifically chosen to go after his bowling, but he too failed. He did all these wonders suffering from a heart abnormality called Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. Above all, he retired when he was good enough for another 3 years atleast while in his peak form unlike kapil.

Hi Ravi, I understand. I'm just highlighting hadlee in detail for others to appreciate and know better about him. Also, remaining free of ball tampering controversies and maintaining a gentle friendly demeanour on field in spite of being a fast bowler is hard to come by isn't it?

I think, Worlds best bowler is Glen Mcgrath , Because he has
36year old inspite of he is bowling well and still he is Australians match winner bowler, many time he has won to Australia again all the team.
Specially again India Mcgrath performance always excellent othewise India would have beaten Australia very easily.
His line and lenth is excellent in control.

The reason for the best bowling of Glenn Mcgrath is the coaching and the environment provided there..The different way of coaching in australia, makes them to excel in the world of crickt..

But if one had to be identified, it had to be one who could also pitch and for this I have to say adds another confusion. There is some confusion as to the precise definition that a player needs to fit in order to be considered an all-rounder. The generally accepted criterion is that a genuine all-rounder is someone whose batting or bowling skills, considered alone, would be good enough to win them a place on the team. By this definition, true all-rounders are quite rare, and extremely valuable to a team since they effectively count as two players. One commonly used statistical rule of thumb is that the batting average of an all-rounder (the higher the better) should be greater than the bowling average (the lower the better). The need to excel in both departments complicates comparison between players, especially when they played under the differing conditions of disparate historical eras. For example, Imran Khan had the exceptional combined Test cricket averages of 37.69 with the bat and 22.81 with the ball; by comparison Keith Miller had 36.97 and 22.97 and; Ian Botham had 33.34 and 28.40 respectively.
The issue is clouded by the many specialist batsmen and bowlers who exhibit some degree of skill in the other department. For example, the Australian bowlers Brett Lee and Shane Warne are good batsmen, but not quite good enough to be selected as a Test batsman in their own right. Debate continues as to whether players in this class, including batsmen who can bowl a few useful overs such as Sachin Tendulkar, are to be considered all-rounders.
One of the most amazing all-round feats was that of E. M. Grace on 15 August 1862. He carried his bat through the entire MCC innings, scoring 192 not out of a total of 344. He then took all 10 wickets in the Kent first innings for 69 runs. However this is not an official record as it was a 12-man game, one of the Kent batsmen was missing, and furthermore he bowled underarm.
A further confusion to all-rounder status is added when fielding is considered. Particularly in the modern game great emphasis is put on fielding skills and some exceptional fielders have been considered "all-rounders" by some, Jonty Rhodes being a prime example. If one is to consider all three disciplines then Frank Woolley perhaps stands alone. He is the only player to take 1000 first class catches (excluding wicket-keepers), only Jack Hobbs has scored more first class runs and he took over 2000 wickets at an average of less than 20.

i think murali is the best in da world that guy has performed evrywhere even on pitches that doesnt asists spinner, his ability to bowl long and tight spells and knack of picking up wickets at crucial time makes him one of the deadliest bowler , he is one of the few spinners who can through the opposition batting line and destroy them with overs .

If we talk about the retired players than no doubt its Wasim Akram and in playing players i will go for Shane Warne, Muhammed Asif, Shoaib Akhter , Mcgrath and Murlitharan.
