Why can't I sign into my AOL account through Internet Explorer??

I finally figured out how to get my DSL up and running on my computer (before it was hooked up to my husbands XBOX for online game playing, blah, lol), but now when I try to sign on to my AOL screen name it keeps saying there is an error. I can sign on to AOL and check my email, but I wanted to be able to check it from Internet Explorer since that is what I am using now. Anyone know why this might be happening? I'm kinda worried because here lately I've been signing up for a lot of things online and providing my name/address/email, but no credit cards or anything like that. What do you think? Thanks!
