Is Swapping, Trading, Barter, etc. better than using Cash?

They say the Almighty Dollar is a Modern Day Evil. Just read the paper and see for yourself. People will do many things for the Almighty Dollar: steal, cheat, kill.
If we do more swapping, trading, barter, etc. would their be less crime?

i think trade would be better but dont think it would help on the crimes any
