Is there anyone out there who deals with a child that has ADHD? My 8 year old son does. The doctors say that his case is not as serious as some, considering he is generally better bhaved than most children with this same problem. His basic problem is his grasp of knowledge. He learns differently than other children his age. He has had all the tests to see if he needs to be in special education but the results of those tests showed that he doesn't have that kind of learning disability. He just has a hard time staying focused and on task and concentrating. He takes Adderol for it and has been improving ever since we started the medication. Anyone else have this problem?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age. I am now 19, and almost clear of the symptoms. All I can say is that it usually does improve with time. I took medication when I was younger (Ritalin) but I slowly weaned myself off of it because I felt it was suppressing my fun-loving nature. Medication helps, but in the long term, the child must learn for itself how to concentrate and behave.
