Hi all, I need some advice with my baby. I am a mother of a 1 year and 3 months baby. my problem is she is skinny because she doesn't eat much. My doctor told me that she is healthy even if she is not that big. But I am concerned. how do i get her to eat more?

My daughter is 22 months old, and is the same way. I have a nephew who will be turning 5 in about a week, and he, too, is like this..His brother, on the other hand, will eat almost anything.
We've learned there's not much you can do. We just keep trying her on different foods. When we find something she likes, we stick with it. For a while, we were concerned, but our doctor, too, said she was perfectly healthy, just a bit small, and that some kids are just like that...They don't eat much, and are picky eaters when they do eat.
Now, my daughter will eat just fine at daycare, but is hit or miss at home. Even with the daycare, she really didn't start eating much until about six months ago. We believe the reason she eats so well there is because she sees her friends eating, but at home, she doesn't have other kids around her encouraging her to eat; just my wife and I. Other than not eating much, she's developing fine, so I've quit worrying about it as much...She lets us know when she's hungry. :)

I have never had this problem as all my babies were very good eaters but I was told that I was very hard to get to eat when I was little . As far as I know there is nothing you can really do except keep introducing the foods to your baby and hope that this is just a phase she is going through .
Best of luck !!

If she's healthy and meeting her developmental milestones, she doesn't need to eat more. Some kids are meant to be skinny and light eaters. If you push her to eat when she'd not hungry, you can contibute to weight problems and eating disorders. Trust your doctor.
