I`m on disability

I am on disability, have been for almost 20 years now . Not that I wanted to be but my socialworkers put me on it . They told me I wouldn`t be able to keep a job, cause at the time my nerves were bad , and wouldn`t be able to handle the stress, or responsibilities involved in keepeing a job . Also around the same time they told me , I wasn`t allowed to even go to school or I would lose my allowance . So at first I didn`t do anything with my life , after a few years I asked myslf What am I supposed to do with my life, I mean Why am I here anyways? Just to sponge off everybody for the rest of mylife? No , I said to myslf. So I did go back to school without telling them . I did get my degree in Computer Tech and Network Specialist II . It took almost 4 years to complete , but I did it . Then I was told by everyone I didn`t have enough experience so I still couldn`t find work . Now almost 20 years after , I was diagnosed with MS and my vision has gotten worse as well I can barely walk anywhere . So now I call my worker and ask them What am I supposed to do when I cannot walk to the grocery store anymore, When I can`t go to the bank, or even sign my name ? All they say is , You don`t have family who can help? No I don`t they don`t live anywhere near me . So what would you do move back with my family and rely on them for everything, I don`t have health insurance either so I can`t afford to go to a Nursing Home and my family can`t either. So because I listened to the workers I also don`t have any Pension either because I never worked long enough . What would you do? I need some good advice here .I mean there are times I wonder if I would have a case to sue for not allowing me to work . I felt like I was being blackmailed all those years not to find a job and now and in the future I will always have to rely on others because I listened to them . What would you do? Thank you very much.

If you are on Social Security Disability why don't you have medical insurance? You receive Medicare when you are on Social Security Disability.

Suggestions: 1. Talk to the local MS Society before you talk to anyone else. They're the experts, they do know their way around the bureaucracy. 2. Any legal action should be preceded by good legal advice. 3. I agree that you were placed in a situation of dependency which has affected your entitlements, but would a court? That's the issue that needs to be addressed. There's probably some sort of case law. If not, there might well be others who've been "helped" as you were, so a class action would save you money and get you a hearing. MS Society could also advise about that. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks I have been to th MSSociety and they don`t offer much here as of yet , they tell me however that they are disputing the laws that in place now and it`s a waiting game for now. So all i can do really is wait I guess. Thank you for your comments I have another appointment The end of this month We`ll see how it pans out. Thanx again.

Perhaps you should consult a lawyer and see if you do have a case. What's the worst they could say? No? It's defintely worth it to check into. It's unfortunate you don't have any family to help you out when times get hard. I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. All the best to you my friend.
