How To Make Snow Ice Cream

It has been so cold here in West Virginia and we have snow everywhere. I hate winter. I dont know about where you live but here school has been closed alot lately due to freezing temperatures. Tonight they are saying we will get up to 10 more inches of snow. I remember when I was a child, we made snow ice cream. I dont really remember how we did it so it tasted so yummy but back them homemade ice cream was all we had. We never had to commercial kind to compare it to. There is a great site online that is called liveing on a dime. They have a video online that tells you how to make snow ice cream. I thought since it was so bad outdside that you may wnat to make your own. Here is the link. It says it will not work with dial up though. Dial up is too slow. Enjoy and go put your bowl out to catch some snow for your own snow ice cream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Ar-Zbn9TI

Aw, too bad that I didn't hear about this last week when we had more snow here on the ground in Missouri! I had no idea that making snow ice cream was even possible! I'm going to take a look at this video on Youtube when I get the chance, because I would *love* to try this, if at all possible, and we may well get some more snow here in Missouri before the winter season is over! Too cool. I doubt that I would have ever known that this idea existed if you hadn't posted about it. Kudos!!!! ^_^

Wow, snowcream. That takes me back a few years! I used to love to eat snowcream when I was small. I guess my children aren't going to know what that is, as this crazy place we live doesn't seem to get enough to do anything with! We have had one dusting and it is flurrying outside now. Should we get snow, I would love to show them how to make snowcream! Enjoy yours if you try it!

Hup! I could not either feel or see such a snow I am living in a tropical country where I felt only a minimum of 7 degree celsius. Its really terrible to live there.

I have never tried snow ice cream before but right now we have no snow so I will have to wait til we get some. :-) You certainly can make plenty of snow ice cream with all the snow that you have been getting there. Send some of that snow here to Delaware. :-) It has been really cold here but not enough to close schools or anything.

I know every kid who has experienced snow at one time or another has eaten some snow but I dont think if knowing what I know and back in that time I would do it again. I am sure the snow ice cream tastes good but I would interested in how it is being made before I would eat it. But if you do get a chance to make your snow ice cream.... ENJOY!!!

Some of the students I work with talked about making snow ice cream last week. I do not eat icecream often, but rich vanilla icecream with a cup of hot chocolate sounds really good.

I seen Paula Dean make this one time on Food Network. She talked about an old family friend making it when she was a little kid. It looked really good!! I've always wanted to try this. Thank you!! :-)

I had this all the time as a child in TN! I have also learned how to make it myself. I use a bit of milk and vanilla for the flavoring then stick it in the freezer for a bit to "slush".

Do you still live in TN? I do and we no longer have enough snow to get some of this childhood favorite! Mayfields' has a Snow Cream Ice Cream that is very close to the real thing!

well thanks and here is another way Mix all ingredients together and eat! Tips: Experiment with other extracts like almond and mint. You can also try orange, lime or lemon extracts for a "sherbert" dessert. To make ice cream even creamier add 1/2 of a mashed banana. What You Need: 1 cup Half & Half 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract dash of salt 5 cups of fresh, clean snow

You are very lucky that you're experiencing all 4 seasons. Eversince I was a child I wanted to see snow, but unluckily we don't have it here in the Philippines. I'm dreaming of a white christmas, snowball fight, snowman, sled ride... (sigh) and in addition to my dream... that snow ice cream. :-)
