Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandng; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
What does this look like in your daily walk? How do you trust in the Lord? Where do you still lean on your own understandings? What does trusting God with ALL your heart look like to you? Do you acknowledge Him in all your ways, every day? How do you acknowledge Him...

That's a really good question Keeping! I love that passage too.
I trust God with everything. There are a lot of things in this life that we will not understand, but we can totally trust God everything.
We have worrys and concerns and God wants us to give those worrys and concerns to Him and trust that He will take care of it. He will see us thru all the trying times and we must never give up, but totally lean on Him.
We must acknowledge the Lord always. We must thank Him for all that He does for us. There are so many things that we take for granted and we don't even think to thank God for them...such as sight, hearing, walking, health, family, job...the list goes on and on. We depend on God for our every breath...our every heartbeat.
Most of all, we as believers can know that there is nothing that can take us away from Him and His love. We also have the awesome Promise of Eternal Life and that is the greatest!

Our every breath, amen! What a glorious statement, and such truth! thank you for your wonderful responce to my post. In what ways in your day, to you apply acknowledging the Lord. Where do you find yourself leaning on Him,and in what areas of your day do you at the end of the day see that you've leaned on your own understanding? Or would you rather not get that specific? I guess I am really looking for some practical applications of this verse in our days. Thanks so much ! May the Lord continue to bless you with a fruitful and delightful relationship with Himself

I have known, loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ for 48 of my 70 years. In all that time, I have never known Him to fail in any of His promises.
At the outset, let me say that I am nothing. Everything I say here is simply because of His work in my life.
As I wake in the morning, it is always with a "Good morning, Lord. Thank You for a great sleep. What are WE going to do today? Please take control of my life, guide me in Your way and help me to fulfil Your will". Of course, it isn't always the same, but you get the idea.
As I progress through the day, I depend on Him to undertake for me. I do a lot of voluntary secretarial work and writing studies, materials and lessons for camps and holiday clubs. I KNOW He directs my thinking as I do this, for it is NOT my work.
As I respond to discussions here, once again I depend on Him for His wisdom. He gave me a promise from His Word many years ago and I have known its truth repeatedly. Luke 21:15 "I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist"
God promised me that He would be with me continually: that the Holy Spirit would be my Guide and Comforter and my never-failing Strength. I practice His presence throughout the day "in all your ways acknowledge Him". I trust Him with all my being. I saturate myself in His Word so that I don't "lean on my own understanding" and He DOES direct my paths.

In your many years walking with Jesus, have you found certain areas in your days more difficult than others in regarding leaning NOT upon your own understanding? certain areas that trip you up? That you have seen victory in perhaps?
Thank you for sharing your testimony! What a glorious thing to meet you in Christ. I love your response!

As a child growing up, I had NO discipline whatever. I did whatever I wanted to do, so "leaning to my own understanding" was my natural reaction to everything. I lived to please myself.
When I became a Christian, this was a problem to me. A verse I accepted but found very challenging was "You are not your own: you are bought with a price". A booklet which I found helpful was "My heart: Christ's home" by Robert Boyd Munger.
It wasn't long before I reaslised that God wanted to bless me much more than I wanted to be blessed, and that HIS way was ALWAYS the best way. My first response is still, at times, to follow my own way, but God very graciously and lovingly chides me. I practice the presence of God throughout my day and He constantly draws me closer to Himself.
I must say with all sincerity that this is NOTHING of me or my doing. It is ALL because of Him and His work in me.

I very much relate to your story. I find it a battle some days to cease walking in my own ways, and find I most stuggle with leaning upon Him in areas He has gifted me in... Things that I am good at, are areas that I can tend to lean on my own understanding, or experiences.
Thanks for your wonderful posting!
