People without Parental figures.
Those of us who have had a good relationship with our parents have received the life coaching necessary to understand our impact on the rest of the world.
Littering is an obvious disregard for the world around you. If you litter you just don't care that you are making it worse. You just don't see the value in leaving the world a better place. You just don't care that you affect other people.
Littering in most places is a crime. It should be. Unfortunately not enough people care about stopping others from littering. You should report those who ruin our environment.
I have to deduct that parental figures were either missing or uncaring of their children and those children grew up not caring that they affect the world around them.

Its people who do not give a damn about the environment they are in, and are quite happy to ruin it for other people who do care. They must be really lazy if they cannot walk to a rubbish bin or take it home with them.
It is really annoying to see discarded mcdonalds packets, coke cans etc that have just been thrown to one side without further thought.
In some cases it is the parents fault - if a child sees their parents drop rubbish on the ground, they are going to think that there is nothing wrong in doing it and do it as well.
PLEASE REMEMBER - The floor is on a diet - feed the bin instead!

This is quite true. I believe we should all keep our environment clean and we should give our children good examples...This should start with the parents so when the kids grow up they can relate to what their parents taught them and have it aplied from generation to generation.

i really dont like it when people litter. its not that hard to just wait until you find a trashcan and throw your trash in there. its just rude and disrespectful otherwise. when i was in afghanistan this summer, i was shocked by how disgusting it was. everyone littered like it was normal, but i figured that if i could at least throw away my trash properly then it would maybe make a tiny bit of a difference. one time my little cousin threw his trash outside in the grass and i yelled at him until he picked it up. he didnt know what the big deal was, but i explained to him that he doesnt have to let afghanistan become a dump. its that attitude that everyone has that has made afghanistan as dirty as it is now. nobody cares anymore because they feel like there are more important things, and, of course, there are, but a dirty city can lead to a lot of problems especially with respect to health!

i know what you mean... but sometimes i litter.. but when i do, i feel guilty and then pick it back up... but a lot of my friends litter and i dont really like it.. but i dont really know how to tell them in a nice way.. but littering makes the area look bad.. thats why they invented trash cans.

What are you talking about? It provides work opportunities for other people: Street/sweepers and janitors. You shouldn't be so negative about this. There is some good in
littering.

I think that this is a great problem which can be met in any part of the world. But we dont have to talk about the people who do this but about the education system which let them do such a bad acton. I remember that i was only six years old when i learned that i shouldnt do this because this action is permitted. And i never did it in my life. It is something simple to learn that you have to protect your country and keep it clean. And when you are visiting another country you have to respect the people who live hear and act as it is your country. These are some simple steps that everybody can follow so as to keep the world clean.

I have to agree with you , people whose parents were ignorant are the ones who really dont care where the garbage goes and how it makes the whole environment unhealthy. Unfortunately in India , littering is not really a crime which is why people mercilessly throw garbage on the streets which eventually lead to even diseases among poor people.
Such people should definitely be reported and should be fined heavily.

well i have littered in spite of my parents telling me not to, so i think its wrong to blame parents for what the kid does.....but now when i see all this i have been trying not to litter and tell others not to do so...atleast we can do this, so that our surroundings remain clean

yea..i have to agree with you..
i'm not an environmentalist or anything like that its just that seeing people throw their trash on the ground wont do any good to any of us..
i just tell my friends not to..because if we lessen it then maybe somebody else will follow..
also when i see them littering i tell them this.. -- woah you're trash can's so big..its the floor..--^_^ hehe

I think this is one habit which children take from elders and should be discouraged right from the beginning.

A litterbug? I personally can't throw anything out if it's not going directly to a trash can. But I always keep my house messy. Maybe I work better with clutter, I don't know. Maybe you are right that people without parents around probably tend to be without manners but I'm sure not all.

I absolutely hate people who throw rubbish on the ground when they are either out walking or when they throw it out of car windows. There are plenty of rubbish bins around these days to dispose of rubbish. I was sitting in my car on a car park once and the car opposite had about 4 people in who just kept throwing their rubbish out of the car. I really wanted to go and tell them to pick it up but was worried in case they were abusive or violent in any way. What a world we live in !!

Here in my country alot of people throw trash everywhere. As in everywhere! They would even throw the littlest trashes like candy wrapper outside of their car window! So shameful! Even in school, the corridors are dirty. I am helping my own little way by recycling properly and throwing trash on proper garbages but alot of people still dont care.

This is one thing that is a big impact to our environment. So being a good citizen by not littering is not just a small contribution but a great one. You saved a lot of lives by just doing so. This small of a trash if properly taken care by everyboy would do a better environment to live.

I know I did litter once when I was young. I had debated with myself over whether I should or not for a good fifeteen minutes, then felt quite guilty afterwards. I spent a lot of spare lunch hours picking up litter in later years so I feel I've made up for it.
