Why can't we get enough of watching "predators" being caught?

We've all seen it millions of times. Dateline series where they catch online predators. Something about it draws us to it each time and once again, this evening they're airing another online predator one but this time with the "child" and the predator meeting out in a public place (park) instead of a house.
Why is it we can't get enough of seeing these creeps get caught? I just wonder. I myself love seeing them each time and hearing their lame excuses. EVERY one of them has "never done it before". It's hilarious. I guess for me, I love to watch to see them get their just rewards.

YEAH! Second time in like 2 days!!! Talk about a moron! I love it too, when they act like big babies. I'm just amazed that idiots still GO for the kids.. I guess it's an addiction.. but holy crap how dumb can you be? LOL

I was watching the show last night, while talking to my friend on the phone. Much to our dismay, we saw someone that she use to talk to, get caught. That was so gross, he was one of the guy's that sent the decoy a picture, and he had sent the same one to my friend. It's a small world. And those men should fry, not get off on probation. I also like going on the website, it tell's you their punishment, if you could call it that.

Yeah, the scary fact is that you KNOW this is not the first time they've done it so how many young girls and boys have they already hurt? Disgusting for sure.

I actually watched it for the first time last night. I couldn't believe some of their bogus stories, even when shown the printed form of their messages! The way they backpetaled to change their story, or like the one guy said he was born in another country and didn't understand what he wrote. Gimme a break! I was surprised at how many they caught over a 3 day period, especially with them all showing up at the same house! And only one figured it out, but then was caught down the street! How they got them all planned out, and where they thought this girl's parents were, I'll never know!
I'd be curious to know, since they didn't really say, how long they had to talk to these guys to get them to "take the bait". The one officer interviewed said that the police didn't have the money or time to sit police officers in front of a computer monitor to set it up. I wonder how long it took to get these 23 guys to actually show up at this house. How long they had to talk online.

Oh I know for a fact that many of them are willing to come right then and there as they're talking to the person! It's really quite sad and disgusting. But what's even more sad is that they're out there by the thousands and never get caught. How many innocent children have they ruined? UGH!

Go and check out the perverted-justice.com website. I know alot of the shows on TV have worked with them. It honestly doesn't take long to get these guys to agree to meet some place. Perverted Justice shows the chats that take place. Just be prepared, some of the conversations are just terrible.

i don't have cable so i can't watch the news, but i wish i could. and i wish they could catch ALL the online and offline predators. Isn't the world a scary place to be bringing our children into ? i'm scared for her already and she's not old enough to even walk yet.

I think its because we like seeing that the rest of the world is just as bad or worse off than our little corner. AND we kind of are glad that others get caught doing bad things, kind of makes us feel morally superior. doesn't it? However, saying that, I hope those pervs get what they deserve. I can remember a man coming into my bedroom when I was a kid, knowing he was planning something bad. My screams woke up the whole neighbourhood

I think alot of it is because we cannot belive to what extent this is happening. The type of people that are doing this. It really is horrible. I wonder if it were turned around on women, how many would actually show up to meet a boy.

I think it is assuring for people to know that there are people out there doing something to stop these guys who try to meet with the young girls. Not only that I find watching that dateline special very comical with the reactions some of the guys give and the excuses they try to make. But everytime they catch one that is one less guy who could be preying on another young girl.

Yes, I love to see them get caught. My problem is that we never see the aftermath. I want to see them behind bars. I want to know that they have been tried and convicted and can never hurt another child. I want to see them out of harms way. The problem is that too many of these perverts plea the case away, or are let go on some stupid technicality and are left on the streets to hurt some other kid. These are scars that don't heal and it's time we start putting the perpetrators away for life.

The one episode they did do a little "after the catch" stuff. The one guy actually got off on just probation because he was really short and the judge (a woman) felt sorry for him that he would be abused in prison because of his small stature! HELLO? HE TRIED TO GO AFTER A CHILD!!!!!!! I was livid!

I can't watch the series, I think it good what they are doing, but I just don't want to watch predators who pray on minors. The interview, from what I have seen, for show. They always do it doing sweeps month, which makes it seem less for societal good and more for ratings.

Oh there's no question in my mind they do it for the ratings! It IS a money making business for sure.. but the end results of getting these pervs makes me feel a bit better for watching it. I personally don't mind watching because they are caught and nothing happens to an innocent child. I guess I put out of my mind the number of young kids they must have actually truly been able to meet and perhaps hurt already.

yes, it just seems like the good side has won again. i honestly feel safer sometimes now that loads of creepy creeps are being locked up. and i agree with you about watching them dig their own graves with their excuses. its very amusing i must say. my question is though, what motivates someone to do such a thing? why do people wanna commit bad things to young girls? i dunno what the answer is, but im glad these people are leaving our cummunities. there has actually been people from neighboring areas that have been caught, and i heard locals cry their surprise when someone they knew was a sick creep.

I wonder if a study has ever truly been done on child predators and what they think? I cannot understand the incentive to touch a child and get thrilled? Not condoning it, but at least raping a grown adult would mean that you're somewhat normal in being turned on by another adult. Of course, it's sick too.. but you know what I mean. It just amazes me how their minds must think.

Because they are scum sucking dirt bags that pray on our young children, What we really want to see is torture but we settle for datlines show that arrests them humiliates them and takes them to jail!

I think it's crazy that there are so many people out there doing this over and over again. It's scary that children are being chased this way. Have you ever visited the perverted-justice.com website? (I just brought up the link to make sure I have it right, and they've caught 11 predaters in my state. UGH!!) I hope that parents are viewing these shows and realizing they should be monitoring their child's internet usage. I wonder how many parents that allow their kids to have IM's actually check the conversations. I hope the shows are teaching families lessons and not just out there for shock value.

because we like to feel hope that someone out there is catching these guys, and although we may never catch all of them, it gives us hope that there are fewer out there

I agree with you, it is interesting! Maybe it's just reassuring to us that those guys aren't getting away with it. It's good to know that our law enforcement system can/does work. Besides, it is funny to see what excuse they can come up with this time! lol.

I just cant believe how stupid these people can be.. after the show airing once, twice, three times,, you would think people might say hey I better stop this before I am one of those! but no, they go anyways and then say "I had a feeling" or "I seen that on tv" well duh!! lol
They never learn. I think they could make a permanent show out of it and stupid men would still be going to meet these young girls..
Im glad they air this stuff though because we deserve to be able to see the scum that is messing with or attempting to mess with children. that is sick! they need to be in prison. and then half the time they have a wife and kids at home. like one guy I seen had a daughter at home about the same age as the little girl he was going to meet! now that is sick.
the world is just going crazy.

i like to watch it because it's just a few more rapists and child predators getting caught. i want to see them in hand cuffs and behind bars where they deserve to be. i think the people on their are just liers and cheaters. they lie to get out of trouble but it doesnt work that way.

I've seen quite a few of them. I'd guess that they're wanting to keep the topic fresh in people's minds so that more people are truly aware of what sick people will do. I get tired of seeing it, but maybe someone who needs it will flip through and see it next time.
