Helen Clarke is the Prime Minister of New Zealand. I am delighted on the one hand that as a woman, she has held her own. I was a bit disappointed when news broke of her driver being told to breach the speed limit.
Like anyone in her role, there are decisions, actions and policies that are laudable. I think history will judge her as a tenacious woman, who without much fanfare did her job and did it well.
She is certainly not as colourful or ascerbic as a former PM, Robert Muldoon when asked about Kiwi migration to Australia was credited with saying "migration of Kiwis to Australia is good. It will help improve the average intelligence of both countries"!
I cannot imagine that this sort of a comment could have won us much goodwill across the Ditch.
Mrs. Clarke plays less to the grandstand than to her tasks.

I'm not into politics. It's Harper. Well he's got his success and failures, like everyone else. I hope someone taht cares about Canada will run the country, Harper seems to care, but again this is politic and there is no way to be sure.
