There are lots of shelters around but there are homeless people who refuse to go to them. Why do you think they would rather sleep in freezing cold temperatures than go to a shelter?
There are people who do drives for blankets and warm clothing and hand them out to homeless people, which is wonderful, but with the temperatures as low as they have been here over the last week, I don't think they would do a whole lot of good. Frankly, I'm surprised these people are still alive.
Why do you think they refuse to go to shelters?

My family and I are currently trying to prevent this situation of becoming one of those who must live on the streets, unfortunately it is not always by choice that the homeless sleep on the streets but the town were we live only has one shelter that holds very few, and when I called to ask for help to prevent becoming homeless, I was told by several agencies to call back when we were on the streets, without a phone or transportation when that happens it seems hopeless. Although some people do abuse the system there are families like mine who have tried to prevent this and when asking for help was turned away and told to try again somewhere else (passing the buck). No we all don't choose to stay on the streets, but there are circumstances that prevent us from getting the help we need, such as lack of room, lack of help in small towns, or just plain lack of communication.

I don't know why they refuse I've yet to figure that one out but I do know that most of the shelters are overloaded right now because of the extreme bitter cold temperatures we have been getting. I'd love to help someone out. I know maybe it sounds stupid but to bring them to my house and feed them and let them sleep but I know what most of you are thinking, IS SHE CRAZY!!! I would be scared though because I wouldn't know if they would rob me or hurt my kids. It's just too bad we are in a society such that it is we are afraid to help strangers.

there habit forces them to lead the life which there ancestors used to live.they havent now tasted the real world and living in there own without knowing that the world have gone so far and they are way back.
i feel so sorry for such people coz watching them that way forces me to curse the government, who are responsible for such things.
i have seen such people living where ever they want ,eat the junglee things and more but what about the women and especially the children which are the upcoming future of our country and society.
