would you squeal about your friend's addiction to his mom?

i recently found out that my old friend is into drugs for some time now. i was able to talk with him but he was very defensive about the addiction and i got scared that if i dont do something about it, he may not recover and go back to his old jolly ways. now i am in a dilemma coz i thought of telling his parents about it but im afraid it might appear like i am betraying my friend and he might hate me for life because of it. what do you think i should do?

First off there is nothing you can do about your friends addiction, you can not make him stop. but to take care of your self you might try a 12 step group like AL ANON, I know that that is for friends and family of people that drink, but an addiction is an addiction. This group will show you how to deal with the whole problem. They are very wise in the ways of addictions, and have helped thousands. I personally went a lot of meetings, because there are people who are in the exact same place as you are, Best of luck Check with AA as they can direct you to the proper group, they are in the white pages of any phone book
