Got any tips for selling on ebay???

I have recently decided to sell on ebay, but I am unsure on how it works from the sellers side. When you list an item, whenand how does ebay take their fees? 3 day or 7 day which is better? Whats the difference from being a seller and having a store. All of this info would be greatly appreciated.
