Have you ever had a tarot reading?

I have a tarot deck that I sometimes consult when I'm facing a challenging situation in life. I guess I just believe that I'll choose the right cards for that exact moment. Have you had a tarot reading, or do you think divination is wrong or rubbish? All opinions welcome!

I read tarot cards myself, although I feel my stronger suit is in palmistry. Unfortunately, like you, it can sometimes drag you down with other people's drama and emotions. I am a very intuitive person, as one would have to be to do any really accurate readings, and a lot of times you go into their vibe and you feel what they feel. Of course you try to guide them with the reading, but afterwards I always feel a little drained and I want to do something fun or make myself laugh to try and shake off that person's vibes. It isn't anything against them, but I have my stuff to carry around, I don't need the extra heaviness. I have gotten stuck at parties doing reading after reading. Once people found out I did them, EVERYONE wanted a reading and I pretty much missed the party and the dancing and the cake. Ever since that party, I am more reluctant to ask for readings from others like myself or offer up the fact that I do them as well. Like I said, it can be very draining and doing a reading for myself can be tricky. I find it hard to remain objective enough to interpret the cards without subconsciously putting my own bias into what they mean for me.

I feel it's much easier to read for other people as well. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell them what the cards say if it is at all negative... I did a reading for a friend and the message was that she basically needed to stop involving herself in other people's relationships, to stop being such a gossip. My strong suit is astrology, and I have a good deal of Sagittarius in my chart, so finding a tactful way to say that to her was a real challenge! I'm a Pisces, so I credit that with my intuitive bent, and my interest in divination and reading signs. My best friend is very interested in numerology, which I respond to but feel I'm not 'gifted' at. I've had my palm read once and what I remember is she said I had the longest 'sun' line (I think...) that she'd ever seen. This was years ago... do you know what that means? I would suggest that maybe you only agree to do readings when you are in a good space to begin with. It can be hard to tell people 'no', but ultimately it affects you so you need to take measures to protect yourself from their energy. I always set up appointments for chart interpretation because it is so time-consuming, but I imagine you have a harder time with palmistry, as it's easier to give someone a shorter reading... like at parties! So nice to meet someone who shares an interest on here! Thanks for responding...

That's interesting. The woman who read my palm... I'll never forget her... her name was Ana and she was French Canadian. We met in Guatemala and had our reading outside on a sunny porch overlooking a lake and volcanos. I remember that she seemed surprised when she looked at my palm, and the only other thing that I really recall is the 'belt of Venus' or some similar term she used. I should really look into palmistry. It's similar to astrology in that everyone's 'prints' are unique to them... I think it's something I could really respond to. And now I'm curious about my Saturn line, etc... Do you reccomend a good website or book? Like astrology, I'm sure there's lots of not-so-great resources out there... I'm hesitant to make posts like this one on mylot as well, because of the negative associations people have about these things. The funny thing is, I truly believe that the vast majority of people are curious, whether or not their particular religion 'allows' them to embrace their curiosity. Thanks for the information.. I'm going to look into palmistry.. I'm interested to see how it corresponds with my natal chart... Do you know your chart, by the way?

It is great to find others like myself out there too. One of the benefits of sites such as this is getting to connect with others like us, as you probably know already...are hard to find. And a lot of strongly religious people incorrectly think we are evil, so its not something you can always bring up in conversation to find if someone has these interests and gifts. :) To answer your question though: The sun line is a line that not everyone has, and it runs vertically up and down underneath your ring finger, which is the finger of Apollo (the sun god in greek mythology). It is a secondary line that reveals the success of a person's endeavors. It is a subsidiary line of Saturn, so it usually relates to business, employment, career, etc. To give you an idea of what it means, I would have to know what the Saturn line looked like. Well to be honest, really I need to see the whole hand and see how all the lines, mounts and shapes of the fingers relate to each other to give an accurate reading. Its kind of like a doctor who only looks at your tongue to see if you are sick...he needs to check out your eyes, ears, lungs, etc. to diagnose you. But I would say the fact that there is a long Sun line, if not too chained, broken, or wavery is a good sign in terms of success for you, so count yourself lucky. Most people that I have read do not exhibit a sun line.

Of all the things I dig about my husband, the fact that he's open to astrology, palmistry, numerology and tarot is at the top! We've done regressions together, and sometimes when I do astrology readings for people he sits in and we do their chart together. It's important to me, so I'm grateful he 'gets it' ... Do you think it's more common for women to be open to these things, because it seems like most men I encounter are quite a bit more skeptical...

How do you do your readings, do you have to be in physical contact with the person to do a reading or how do you do them and what do you charge.

I have never had a tarot reading done for me, but I have some tarot cards here at home. I just haven't really got into reading them yet... but I will eventually. They are awesome. I watched a lady once give a tarot reading to one of my friends and she was really accurate with what the cards told her. My friend was so amazed by that, because the lady couldn't possibly have known all that stuff. It would be cool if I find that tarot reader and get a reading done for myself:)

my friends would always come to me to have their readings done... it's fun, but at the same time you end up as sort of a therapist. You know their drama, and when they want advice all I hear is, 'when can you do my chart? when can you read my cards?' LOL.. I love it though...

I never think they are rubbish, the readers might have been "rubbish", but if you get proffessionals to do that, the results will amaze you. I never have my palm read but I have my tarot deck shuffled and read every day. It's free at www.facade.com sometimes it's hard to understand because it speaks in wide terms, but at the end of the day I am glad I pay attention

I don't quite think it's rubbish, but I don't put a lot of stock in it, either. I've had my tarot read a couple of times, and it was fairly accurate. But I'm not going to live my life based on the advice of a deck of cards. I also definitely don't think that tarot cards can predict the future, as some people seem to think they can. The future is not knowable, in my opinion.
