'Girl Friend' means what?

One of my friends(Female) always keep telling me - am not you r girlfriend why should i wait for you? Why should i care if you wait for me? I just told her 'You are my girl friend' But still she is not accepting it. I dont know whats on her mind! Please letme the definition for 'Girl Friend' in your own point of view!

Girl Friend is a composition of two words Girl n Friend.... But unfortunately now n then either of both gets possessive n such situations arise.... Boys took as my girl n Gals took as my futural.... Demise..... Whole story starts to burden before it nourishes...... Extra expectations n not caring attitude by other spoils it badly..

logically girl friend is just a friend who happened to be a female. but actually girlfriend means a lover, who u would like to love and marry or just would like to have relationship. i think your girl friend is not interested in your love :)
