Hi there...the meaning of friendship changes as we grow older and you will discover this as your life changes through the years as you are still very young. Having friends means something differently to everyone, but even for ourselves that changes too as we experience growth in our lives. Having a lot of friends isn't as important as having a small few loving, quality, entrusted friends for a lifetime. As we grow older our lives become more busy and we have less time for everyone so having only a few good, close friends are more of value as they are always there for you during the good time as well as the bad ones too.

I've noticed over time that people, in general, tend to have one of two kinds of friends. They either make friends with nearly everyone they meet, then later end up betraying each other and ruining the friendships. Or they make very few, select friends, and remain friends for their lifetime. Personally, I fall into the latter. I don't have a lot of friends, only a handful of people I'd call my friend. But then, I don't have excess drinking buddies or party friends. I just have my handful of dear, dear friends. Neither way is better than the other. The first way leaves you with tons of people, nonstop to interact with. The second leaves you more lonely, sometimes. Even bored. But the first way can cause more pain then the second. Every so often you should sit down and evaluate what kind of friends you'd really prefer. And take steps to make friendships of that kind.
