I know a couple of people who absolutely do not get along with their mothers. Although I do think for a majority of women that mothers and daughters have this unexplainable bond. Even if they go through a period of time when they aren't all that close, something changes in one of their lives and brings them back together. For instance, when the daughter becomes a mother. A father certainly can't answer questions about pregnancy from experience. Most daughters don't realize their best friend is their mom until they are older.

yes mother n daughter be best friends as they know each other very well and mother understand everything just by seeing the face of daughter. other thing is that in our country most of the fathers love their son but not their daughter. the girl child mostly received love from her mom so they attached together very well.

mother and daughter can be good friends. but there are times when daughters trust their friends or siblings more than their moms because they feel mothers deliberately try not to understand. but surely mothers are the only ones who love and nuture you selflessly and wholeheartedly.

I don't know. My mom has always made it clear that she was not my friend, but my mother. Though she often treats me as an equal or a friend. But, when she needed to show superiority, she would remind me of it.

they can be best friends a good example ar the gilmore girls:))well not all moms and daughters can be best friends it depends an everybody personality and temper realy, becuse no matter what you can tell your mother everything because shes the only person that will agree with you and if you did something wrong she could be one of the few persons that will still say to others that you didnt do anything wrong even if you have done i mean she will still defend you even if you did something wrong.and she has more life experience so she could give good advices

I believe this wholeheartedly.
My mom and I were always close, but our relationship really blossomed into a strong friendship when I got into my mid-20's and has continued growing in that direction.
Mom understands me better than almost anyone, and I'm the same way with her. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I got a lot of my quirks and positive and negative personality traits from her, and since we're so much alike we understand each other well.

i totally agree with this. no one knows the daughter as much as a mother does. me and my mom are bestfriends. we have been together for 29 years now and we know each other's ins and outs. she knows what a pout on my face means & i know what's inside her mind if i see her brows meet... things like those make us special for one another. like bestfriends, we help each other in whatever way we can. we always support each other and love each other no matter what. we are always ready for each other, we never turn our backs.
she is more than my other, at times, she's my sister, my teacher, my confidante but most of the time she is my mother, my bestfriend.

I do. Although the role of disciplinarian is a tough one, I think when it comes down to it, although it may be down the line, you will admire your mom and be thankful for her insights. Or maybe I'm just saying that because I have a two month old daughter that I hope to be best friends with...:)

i agree. like most of my friends, they hate their moms and not even talk to them but they always end up going back to their moms whenever they have problems that they can't face alone.
