You can try consolidation. You will get more manageable payments and a better interest rate. Of course you will not use those cards until they are paid off. Will take about 3 years or so and then you can control yourself having gone through that experience. We got in trouble as young people and did this thing.
Recently we had a housefire and consolidated to survive until we could get back on our feet. It has been a real help. With a card of my own I do some spending on line, I pay for it myself and do so making payments a couple of times a month. I do alot online so it is basically just for that. Not a large limit one, I told them to make it for a certain amount, since I want to keep spending down.

Consolidate all your credit cards into one payment? I am going to call to find out. I will cut up all my credit cards except for one to have it for emergencies only.

Also to help you put it in the freezer so that it has to be thawed out before using. Most of the time you will find you didn't really need to have it after all. We encourage you to get ahold of your finances and get free of that bondage. Your life will get less stressful! Thanks for responding to me.

That's a good idea, because it gives me time to think if I really need to spend with the credit card.

I am beyond help at this point, but there is an agency called Consumer Credit Counselling, It is all over the US, and if you can be helped, they will do it. Not all Credit counsellors are legitimate, I know of some that will rip people off, but this one is for sure an honest one. Good luck.

I just bought my home and if God wills I plan to refinance in two years to have a lower interest. Wouldn't it affect you if you go with the consumer credit counseling?

I did spend, and ran into so much debt. I am not paying off a $30,000 dollar loan from it. I will not use it for any reason except dire emergency. There should be a spenders anonymus. Perhaps you can start one up. I think it is a great idea.

I see what you mean, We need to understand we don't need credit cards since it's money we borrow. I don't owe as much credit cards amount as you had but I have 5 credit cards that I have maxed out. I want to pay more than the minimum into one card only and when paid off continue with the next one and so on until I pay all the credit cards off. I cut my credit cards off and left only one for emergencies.

I don't spend a lot with credit cards but that's because I don't have big limit in it. I think Wilderr is right, you should consider Debt Consolidator, I don't know what they are called in the US but something like that.

Oh dear I feel for you, been there. I am guessing there is such a thing but don't know where. What I did was took my cards and cut them up. I have not had a credit card for over 20 years and will never have another - If I don't have cash I don't buy it.

How did you manage to get out of debt? I will cut up all my credit cards today, except for one to leave it for emergencies.

Thanks for the tips, it really helps. I just consolidated my debts into one payment and should pay it off in less time than if I had all these payments separately.

No I don't but I suggest that you cut them up and concentrate on paying them of. They are to tempting, I could never afford a Creditcard. To me they are to tempting. When you see something you like and you have a credit Card you buy it where if you don't and don't have no money you can't Buy it and get into Debt.

I did cut off my credit cards so I won't be tempted to use them. I am trying to give a little bit more than the minimum on one credit card until is paid off and then continue with the rest until finished. I hope I can get out of debt soon.

Credit card anonymous is a great idea. There are too many people in your situation these days. Credit cards make it way to easy to get yourself in way over your heads.
I personally don't have any credit cards, just a debit card now. That way I can't spend more than what cash I have and what I have in the bank.
As suggested earlier, debt consolidation is a great idea. This should lower your interest rates while combining all of your debts into one. Just be careful not to run up any more charges unless it is truly an emergency.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still thinking about going into debt consolidation due that they ask for a high monthly payment. I haven't charged anything on my credit cards since a month ago. I destroyed all of them except for one, which will be used for emergencies.
