I know that making a mosaic is a very clever thing to do and that the best ones take hours of painstaking work, and I also think the very ancient ones are a wonder that they were put together in the way that they were.
What I can not understand is the current fashion to take a perfectly beautiful picture and turn it into a mosaic.
Anyone like to do this, or understand why people prefer a picture in pieces as opposed to the original whole?

oh dear, I am not keen on cut fingers.
Do they make ready cut tiles for this? I suppose the craft shops may do?
What was the theme of the mosaic you made last year?

there's nothing wrong with mosaic i'd rather do it. it's an art, that's how true art is treated lot of work and lot of times to make it really beautiful.

Yes, Marlyse, it makes a lot of sense to me. I am glad it is something you can enjoy to do and maybe willow would like a few tips for her next venture?
I was fascinated by the mosaic which is preserved at Lullingstone Villa in Kent (Roman times) but I can not see why anyone would want to take a perfectly nice modern picture and turn it into a mosaic. Maybe my brain needs to expand a little to understand the concept, I don't know?
