Do you give friends/family tours of your home?

I can see if you have a new home and want to show your family and friends. But if a new friend or such is comming over, I think it is just tacky to give people a"tour"of your home. It's like "look what I have" I don't do it. Do you? WHY? What do feel is the point?

i show people around my house if they ask (thats another topic to consider, why do people want to be shown around your house, is it so they can feel good about the fact that they have a better house). When guests stay over they have to be shown where everything they need is. I prefer not to show anyone my bedroom because its always in a mess

I give a tour if people ask. But I don't parade people around my house. I do like to throw house parties, and have people over, but I don't necessarily have to give everyone a tour. If they ask, I oblige. Or if they are stayover guests, and need to know where stuff is, but a house tour doens't have to be a show-off or a bragging opportunity. Chances are, most of my friends have nicer houses than mine. and with 4 dogs, I KNOW their houses are cleaner than mine!

I never really understood it either. LOL If you just moved into a new place or something, then maybe but I agree with you... it's tacky. It's like trying to brag "look what I have". I usually joke if someone comments on our new place and say "yup, and when the interior decorator is done it should be great" LOL I'm never one to have the time or money to spend on decorating, no matter how much I want to!

I only do so if they ask to see the rest of the house. Of course, I do show everyone where the bathroom is located. Now, if I have been around someone, say at work, who has heard me speak about some remodel or home improvement project that we have been doing, then I show them what I was talking about.

No way, the only room I ever feel the need to show anyone is the bathroom!

Honestly, it depends on the family or friend. My mother would insist if I didn't offer while my stepfather couldn't care less as long as it's a roof and 4 walls, he would however comment on some i.e. "the wood trim is really nice" or "you have a big yard here". A group of friends from church helped me move to my last home so most all saw it "in the process" after I was settled I had them all over for a small house warming and nearly everyone wandered around on their own, already feeling at home and commented how different looked now opposed to in the process.
