Burn dvds to regular cds?

I was wondering if this is possible and if so how to do it, and are there any free programs i can use to do it. I herd it was possible, because i wanna take vidoes off the interent and i want to make a dvd of it but i dont have a dvd burner...is all this possible?

you will need to rip and compress. search for the terms "autogordian knot" and "tutorial" for the guide.
