I find a lot of people, very eager and excited and couldn't wait to chat online. For some it's been their life and work, their days wouldn't be complete without chatting. But I find it a waste of time, like everybody's fooling everybody with lies and lies, it's my opinion.
Do you like chatting? Why? Does it help you to get what you want? Or it makes you happy somehow?

I hate chatting online. I am a pretty fast typist and I feel like I am constantly waiting for someone's response. And what happened to grammar and spelling??? Kids are doing horribly in English classes because of internet chatting and text messages. They have their own lingo which completely discard spelling, punctuation, and grammar. I realize that is a conversation, and spelling and punctuation are not as important in the classroom or business world, but we are crippling our youth. The more they get used to typing that way, the easier it will be for them to slip into those habits when they need to be focused on typing correctly in school and in business formats. It also emphasizes slang terms so much so, that students even in the collegiate level don't know how to conjugate verbs. We have enough language problems with all the different dialects out there as it is, we don't need anymore. So yes, I hate chatting. It is pointless and a waste of time. We could have the same coversation if I just picked up the phone and called you. The internet chatting takes 3 times as long to say something, than an actual personal phone conversation.

Yeah, you really had points there. Sometimes when I'm browsing some chat rooms, I couldn't understand what they're talking about eventhough the medium is English. People create terms and words that even don't exist in the dictionary. And seemly the youth of today doesn't pay attention on creating proper conversation.

You mean if they pass the filling up of application? Hmmm, seriously, even spelling and grammar maybe it will be difficult for them to pass.

Yeah, sorry to get on a soapbox about it. But it drives me nuts because I know that some of these kids are going to be ill-equipped when they go on job interviews and try and make it in the real world.

I agree with you. Seems like a waste of time, sometimes. I think it's fine like for myself if I'm just chatting with a close friend. That's usually how I can keep in contact with some friends, since most of them are out of state. But just chatting with someone you don't know, and lying, very true, is a waste of time. Obviously too many people have too much time on their hands!

and lots of those strangers who are online chatting, obviously are the source of scam and can create problems directly or indirectly like spying or sending you viruses or just anything to harm your computer. And aside from these, chatting becomes the medium of s*x trade online, very dirty works indeed.

So, you don't normally use chatting to meet new people.

Sometimes I'm interested to chat, but very rarely did I really enjoy it. But when it comes with family or friends I don't mind wasting my time.
