does man can chage your relationships with your friends?

In another life I was married to a very controlling and abusive man. He isolated me from my family and friends. My friends slowly dropped away as they were uncomfortable or fearful around him. It took me seven long years and almost losing my life to get out of the relationship. So yes a man can change your relationships with your friends.
