Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end." (ASV) Hope is not something we often find in the world these days. Amid all the wars, crime, violence and hatred it's hard to grasp. It's difficult to imagine a better tomorrow when it seems the world is going crazy all around you. Right now, there is a panic in the world over global warming. It wasn't so long ago that the scientific community was warning of the impending doom of another ice age. On the news we hear about the imminent threat of nuclear war. It's easy to despair about the state of the world today. As Christians we have much cause to hope. In Proverbs 23:17-18 we are told "Let not thy heart envy sinners; But be thou in the fear of Jehovah all the day long: For surely there is a reward; And thy hope shall not be cut off." (ASV) We have hope not only because of the promise of heaven, but also because we know who is in control. We know that the day of Christ's return will come and there will be an end to the fighting and the destruction. "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God." (Romans 14:11 ASV)

Amen! God has promised good things in store for us, not necessarily on this earth, but "eye hath not seen, nor ear heard" the wonderful things we have to look forward to when it's all said and done.

You're right. I admit I've been concerned about the global warming too lately. The important thing though is that we are ready to go when its time. The things we are so afraid of on this earth are minor compared to what may happen if we aren't prepared when its our time to go.

The way I look at global warming and all the other scares is this: God created this world, and He is in charge. If it's true that the earth is getting warmer, guess what -- He is sovereign over that too! If He's ready to return and for the world to end, then it will happen. If not, then it won't.

This is one of my favorite verses and I use it every day. When I wake up my children I say "Are you ready to have a great day? God has good things planned for you!". I think it is a good attitude for everyone to have.
