So my husband and I are trying to have a second child. We have been trying for about 6 months. After having my first child I went on the depo shot. I haven't had a period since I started on the shot. I am looking for ways to help us conceive. I don't know what to do. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Just to reiterate the depo in my opinion is the worst form of contraception, I actually bled constantly whilst on the depo and it really messed with my hormones and body, I only had 3 shots and it was an awful experience. I would suggest going to your doctor for some advice, I suffer with Endometriosis and this really aggravated it.
It can remain in your system for a long time, I have been trying to conceive for 2 years though as mentioned I have Endo.
I would also suggest increasing your intake of folic acid whilst you are trying to conceive this is extremely good for you and the baby when you are successful.
Baby dust to you x

I would suggest going to your doctor and he will give you meds to help bring your period back. After you get it back and it comes in regularly you will be able to get pregnant. Kind of hard to get pregnant if you are not getting a period

You should meet with your ob-gyn. You may need some medication to jump-start your period. From there it takes people an average of up to 1 year to concieve once they are actively trying. The first step is to get your period back and regualar so that you can start trying on regualar intervals. Good luck!

I too have been on the depo shot before. I would never recommend it to anyone. It normally takes around 10 months for your period to return after your last shot. Mine returned the next month, but then I had a period for a month at a time. I had to go on the Nuva Ring for 5 months to get things straightened out. I think things are back to normal now but we'll see whenever I try to conceive. In addition to the shot messing with your fertility it also reduces bone density (puts your at risk for osteoperosis) and has tons of crazy side effects like lowered libido, headaches, paranoia, etc. I would recommend checking out the fertility awareness method or if you have to be on birth control again try the Nuva Ring.
