What is your earliest memory?

I read somewhere, that no one really remembers anything until they are at least 5 years old! But I don't think that is true. My first memory was when I was just 18 months old! Not a very nice one, - I will spare you the gory details, but I had a fairly bad accident, and I vividly remember being rushed across the road to the, thankfully nearby, Hospital in the snow, with my Mother screaming, and my Grandmother trying to calm her down! So please tell me your earliest chidhood memory - could be happy, funny, or sad.

sorry to hear about yours...mine is actually a good one. I was around 2 or 3 and I remember my grandpa taking me to see rabbits that a friend of his kept. For the longest time I thought this may have been something I'd dreamt until I told my dad about it and he confirmed that it was indeed true.

My earliest memory is from just before my first Christmas. My mom used to insist that thee was no way I could remember something that happened when I was under a year old but the details I remember conviced her. She left me on top of the dryer (with it running in the attempt to rock me to sleep) in car seat looking out the window. I don't rmemeber her going out but I do remember seeing her return, walking out of the woods behind our house in the snow dragging a small tree behind her with the dogs following her. She was wearing a purple parka. That is what convinced her finally. We don't have any pictures of that parka and she only wore it that winter because it was ruined in storage by the next winter.

I remember when I was 2 years old, being in one of my aunt's weddings. I also remember being young enough that I was laying on the back seat of my parent's car (before there were car seats), as they were driving around. I remember a few things from way back then. :)
I have heard that people who remember things from that young of an age, tend to have more vivid dreams. Do you?

I can remember lots of things from when I was very young. I remember jumping up and down on my Grandad's bed and listening to music though a pair of huge headphones, I think I was about 3 then. I can also remember many events at nursery, in particular I remember having 'milk time' and aways desperately hoping that i'd get to drink my milk from the bottle with a straw rather than having to drink it out of a beaker. Again I think I was about 3 at that time too.

wow that must have been scary.
I think I was about 3 we were at the beach when a wave overtook me- I can still see the water churning over me and the bubbles from the crashing wave- i couldn't find my way out- then suddenly mom was there to pick me up- I remember crying and mom hugging me then she gave me a piece of candy to get the salt water taste from my mouth and then all was well with the world again!!

Wow! Could have been really bad! So are you scared of water now because of that incident, or not at all?

hey i have heard that memory starts developing when a child is around 2 years of age.
i dont remember exactly how old i was......but i remember secretly moving out of the room when my mother used forcefully make me fall asleep (so that i could take some rest after coming back from school.....but i was like 'no,i have to play').
a lot many times i used to get caught while moving out and she used to literary drag me to bed....not to mention with a tight scolding ofcourse!
also i remember how she used to make me drink that 'milk'.i used to make a shot(with a bat ofcourse)and she used to clap and cleverly make me take a sip.(in happiness i used to forget that she's making me drink it)
we both together laugh at these things now!its fun actually.
i have many other fond memories....but i cant write so much!lolssss.......you wont read my reply then!
hey but plz do read this one....its not that long!ha ha

I overheard my parents watching some show about "The Squeaking Door" and being afraid of the door noise. I also remember falling out of the bunk bed, and my sister falling on her head on some concrete under some monkey bars.

I have a lot of memories before the age of five, but they don't always pop into my head when I need them. The earliest of them I remember is being in a crib and a window being open. My parents were sleeping in a bed nearby. It turns out we were visiting someone at that time. I also remember wearing a diaper and going through toilet training, too. I actually can remember a lot of things as a baby/toddler.

I dont really remember things till I look at photos or videos of the time... I do know my 2nd birthday very well as that is on video but like you said the next one i actually remember is my 5th as i had a magician but I remember that as i have the certificate and the pictures... I have a bad memory anyways so I do need help with remembering things like stuff like that with photos or videos.

I don't remember the time but my earliest memory is the day when I was looking at a mirror and a child was playing in it. I believe that is my earliest memory. Right then I could not walk I just used to crawl.

my earliest childhood memory was around when i was 14 months, my little brother was rolling around in his little rolly thingy, and i went up to him because he had formula and i wanted it. so i took it from him and gave him my sippy cup that had my kool-aid in it. this is the first thing i can remember at it makes me laugh when i think about it.

Wow, I don't remember anything at 18 months, but I do have a couple or so memories of when I was 4. I remember walking to preschool and I remember the old fire engine we had there in the playground to play on. I think I remember a few other things, too, but I'm not sure how old I was.

I think my first memory was about the age of 4. My grandfather use to feed peanuts to this crow that would come by everyday at the same time. I was really afraid of that bird. He was huge. But I remember him flying real low over my head to grab the peanut from poppys hand. I cried and ran into the house. As I got use to the bird I wasnt so afraid anymore.

My earliest memories was when my great grandfather lived with us. I would get his cane and hide it. I dont remember what he looked like. All I remember was his legs and shoes. I guess because I was so little that was all I could see.

I don't what my age was back then. All i can remember was i was on a table. And i was singing Eternal flame at the top of my lungs and my family are all seated and we're all laughing at me. They're all laughing because i can't still pronounce the letter 'r' correctly.
