American Idol auditions

Why is it that when someone goes in to audition before the American Idol judges, and they suck, they get all pissed off when they don't get that golden ticket for Hollywood. If you suck, you suck! It's that simple. But no, people just can't take the truth sometimes and they have to gripe and moan and yell at people. Sorry people, those of you who think you're the greatest thing to hit the planet need a reality check. I have no idea what possesses some people to go and audition for the Idol competition. If you really suck that bad, odds are that your parents or best friend have been the only ones to tell you you're any good, just to not hurt your feelings. My fiance had a great idea....he said he wants to make a big banner that says "No, You Suck!!" and stand outside the auditions, that way when someone comes out and is all pissy cause they just blew that badly and got told so, then he can hold it up at them. Some people just need to get a clue!

I was myself pretty horrified by the reaction of those people who were not selected to go on to Hollywood. I'm wondering that a lot of the contestent are weird and I mean they don't even sang well. I think most of them just went to audition just for the fun. But to hear them cursing and yelling and whatever crazy things they can do, its just not right.

If I were Simon, for some of the remarks he' made and the contestants reactions, I'd be afraid of a few stalkers. I hope he has an escort out to his car at the end of the day!

hehe Yeah, me too! I mean, as many people that get pissed off and say that Simon can kiss their a** and walk off saying the judges will regret it, I'm pretty shocked that we haven't heard something yet about one of the judges getting harassed or stalked or there was an attack attempt made. But you never know, maybe it has happened and they just kept it under wraps for the sake of the show continuing.

People delude themselves all the time. They assume because friends tell them that they are good it is the truth not thier friends being polite.
At the same time I think some people are looking for thier 15 minutes of fame.

I don't get this too. People that know they are suck, still want to embarse themself on TV.
I don't agree in what your fiance did. I think that it's cruel. If I was one of those guys that your fiance hold the sign for me, I probably beat him up. No offence. I just think it's mean, and it can piss off a lot of people!

My fiance didn't actually go out there and hold a sign up, I just said that he thought about doing it a few times after watching some of the people that auditioned ranting and raving after they really sucked. But he didn't really go to the auditions with a sign. He wouldn't actually do that. He's not a cruel person.

I think you should find out whether you actually have any talent then before putting yourself in that position! That way you'd be saving yourself some embarassement. From what I heard, though, you actually have to go before 1 or 2 other people while registering before they say Go ahead, you can audition. Like I said before, I've heard a lot of it is staged for entertainment, so I think a lot of those crappy people probably just get sent through for comedic purposes, to give America more to laugh at.

It's not about 'getting a clue'.. it's about perception. This person might think that they sing fine, or even great. They might have been told by family and friends that they sound great ( to spare feelings ) so, when they come into American Idol.. it's a huge shock to hear that they suck. All of a sudden you're bombarded with thoughts like " my family lied to me, my friends lied to me " and they're sad about that, but most people react to sudden sadness with anger. Me, I think I'm a good singer. I sing all the time, and people tell me that I sound good. I thought about auditioning for Canadian Idol ( cause I'm Canadian ) , but I would much rather sit here at home thinking that I sound good, and holding onto that than going to Canadian Idol and being told that I suck. Not all people think like me though.. and they go and audition because they think they're good.

I know... what's with all the begging and pleading and tears and offering to sing something else? I think for some of them it's just an opportunity to be on TV, their 2 seconds of fame! ;)

I definitely agree! And it's sad to think that some people are just that dilluted. Although, I did hear something about a lot of the stuff on Idol being staged. Don't know why they just can't let it be real. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would beg and plead and get pissed and cry anyway. That's just how the world is.

I have heard from people they audition a few times before actually getting to Simon, Randy and Paula. They have their hopes built up just so they can have those few horrible singers on TV. If you notice every year they promote the horrible singers more and more each time. They have a night that shows all of the bad singers because people get a kick out of it. I wish these peoples family memebers would be honest with them before they even get to the auditions and tell them "hey you can't sing" I know I would want someone to be honest with me instead of going and humiliating myself.

American Idol is the easy way out, anyway. If those people really want to make it, they need to get out there and actually work to be recognized. If if was really that easy as to just sing at a couple auditions and then, bam, record deal, every artist would be signed.

I think it is an easier way out, but I also think the actual competition would be challenging and kinda fun. My parents really want me to audition for AI. They keep asking me when I'm gonna go. However, I'm working on making it myself. I write songs of my own, with the musical help of a friend, and I'm in a band with my fiance, and we are going to start playing out within the next month or so. I guess we'll see how it geos.

I feel the same way as you.I would never try to audition on American Idol if I could not sing. Most of the ones that try out always bring a family member along, dont these family members no how bad they sing, and they still let them go to the audition. This is just crazy.Your fiance has a very good idea with the banner, tell him to go for it.

lol I think that either the family members they (the ones that suck) bring are either just trying to be nice by telling them they sound good, or they are just as dilluted as the ones auditioning. Either way, I think it's hillarious to watch sometimes, and you just can't help your jaw dropping on occasion while watching some of the idiots that go before the judges. And thanks, I'll let my fiance know!

I hope there are thousands of people that go in and we only see the crazy ones. I would hate to think they are all like that. I love to watch American Idol. It helps me remember that I can sing either, so I dont try.
Some people are so over the top, Do you wonder if they watch them selves later and feel so stupid? Do you think it changes the way people act later on in life?

Oh, I love watching it, too! I'm an aspiring singer myself. It's very entertaining, especially when you watch the crazy ones and you're sitting there thinking, "what the hell were they thinking" or "i have no idea what to say about that but Oh My God!" lol I know some of that stuff is staged, but still, you gotta think, why the hell would someone go on national tv and act like that, completely nuts or childish or stupid. I can't really believe that all those people go on there thinking they are any good when they really suck that bad. I think a lot of them do it just to get their face on tv, unfortunately for the rest of us. As far as whether or not I think it changes the way they act later in life, I think it depends on how mature they are, and whether or not they actually took the comments of the judges as suggestions/lessons.

Hi! First of all, welcome to myLot! Regarding the topic, I agree with you that, with the knowledge that the judges could be VERY rude to a contestant's face due to lack of talent, still the people audition. I think the mentality here is the so-called "15 minutes of fame". Some people just go there and would rather suffer embarrassment just to be seen on TV. I'm not even sure if some are exaggerating just to make themselves noticed. This show had been going on for several seasons already and still, same old same old. Remember the guy (I think his name is -- Wang, who sang his own version of 'She Bangs')--he suffered ridicule and yet landed on a recording contract. That gives others hope, I guess. Well, as for those who just don't get it (that they really don't have talent), they have to realize that indeed. I hope those who are not talented would just give up, because there won't be any ridicules thrown, if there aren't anyone to ridicule. Enjoy myLot!

Hey thanks! And I completely agree with you! And if they are exaggerating to get noticed, I really wish they would stop. Not only would it save them the embarassment, it would save us the "oh my god"s. lol And it's really funny to me when people get so pissed off at the judges (especially Simon) dishing out the criticism. They've seen the previous seasons, they know how the judges are. If they have no talent, they shouldn't audition, and if the judges tell them so, they should be happy they're finding out now.

I think half the people just go there for their 15 minutes of fame. They must be really tone-deaf if they think they can sing well. The poor judges probably have to deal with hundreds of these people in one day so you cant blame them for being rude and getting fed up. I wish their loved ones would save everyones time and their embarassment and just tell them that they dont think they are good enough to try out for American Idol. Although as I said some people just want as much time in front of the camera as possible so after they have been kicked out theyll rant and rave as much as they can to have more camera time

well i think they do that because they prepared hard enough for the auditions, and they think they really sound good but the fact is that they're do not, sometimes i also think i'm good but others tell i'm not, well i'll just wish them luck

I honestly think that these people that cant sing....think they can. Like you said, they are told my friends and family that they are good and they honestly believe it..as bad as they sound really. SO, I guess if you spend your life thinking you are good at something..then are put in your place and told you are not...can kinda be heartbreaking :S lol...

I think that many of them actually know that they suck, but if they have a tantrum and yell and scream and cry then people will remember them, and they have 15 minutes of fame!

People who can't accept criticisms are self-centered, selfish persons. All they want is praises, good feedbacks towards themselves. . . If the shoe doesn't fit, period. Don't make a stupid effort if you know in the first place that you are not qualified, not fit into it and impossible.

My all time favourite appalling Idol wannabe was the thoroughly insane Mary Roach. She was off her trolley in a big way. These people don't know what's good for them. The sad thing is that the programme needs these freaks in the early stages and encourages them to act up. I suppose it makes for good viewing.
