What did you parents teach you about money?

My dad said that money come and money goes. What does that say. Honestly, I do not know. I want to give my kids financial literacy. What did your parents teach you about money and is it the same or different from what you are going to teach your offspring?

In regards to money, my Dad would always say, "You can't take it with you" .... which I do not really consider the best of advice. I've always taught my kids to "save for a rainy day" ... :)
