How often do you grocery shop? What items do you buy every week?

I only buy groceries every other week. There isn't anything that I have to buy weekly. I make a list of meals that I want to prepare for the two weeks. Then I make a list of what ingredients I need to make those meals. Finally, I add toiletries and health products to my list. This system has worked for me for years.

I do alot of canning and freezing in the fall. That is also when we call in the butcher for our supply of beef, chicken and pork. I can't remember the last time I bought eggs, butter, milk, yogurt or cheese. These we trade for from another organic farm for meat. I do tons of baking and make my own whole wheat pasta. Even when our 5 boys were at home our grocery bill was not astonomical. I usually just run in for fresh fruit and things to make salads. I want a real greenhouse so I can grow that myself as well. My husband still needs his Pepsi too. Since we don't have the conveniece of a large grocery store my pantry is full. I only mark down what I need to replace.

I go once a week and my items seem to vary from week to week. I make out a menu for the whole 7 days, then I make my list from that. Milk, toilet paper, cat litter and cat food are the items I seem to buy every week.

i go for it like once a week. i usually buy some household stuff needed at home. i buy in small packages since the grocery store here is just a few walks away so i won't be piling up my cupboard and make a mini-grocery out of it. lol.
