General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a mobile data service available to users of GSM and IS-136 mobile phones.GPRS data transfer is typically charged per megabyte of transferred data, while data communication via traditional circuit switching is billed per minute of connection time, independently of if the user actually has transferred data or been in an idle state.GPRS can be utilized for services such as WAP access, SMS and MMS,but also for Internet communication services such as email and web access. In the future, it is expected that low cost voice over IP will be made available in cell phones.

GPRS - General Packet Radio Service . A GSM data transmission technique that does not set up a continous channel from a portable terminal for the transmission and reception of data, but transmits and receives data in packets. It makes very efficient use of available radio spectrum. I hope this is the best response !

Hi there, GPRS means Global Packet Radio System. It is a means of delivering information over the mobile digital network. This is what allows for sending pictures to one another via MMS (multi media service) or downloading games and tunes. If you are on Vodafone then you will know about Vodafone Live. This is a sort of internet service on the mobile. It is the GPRS that allows this to work as it can send larger files over the network rather than just talking and sending text messages. Hope this helps you. If you need any further help do not hesitate to ask. I work for Vodafone, so I know what I am talking about. HOPEFULLY. lol
