feed the needy commercials

ok I was just watching the tv and another commercial came on. I have donated monies to these places before when i was younger I though I could help everybody out and do a good deed. so many times have I donated.
I must admit that I am sicked that there are no commericals to help the people in the united states. I know we live in a great place and are fortunate for things we have but i think we should help the people here that need help and donate to the homeless and needy here..
what do you think
have you donated to the commercials or do you think they are fakes just for the money

Personally, I prefer to give directly to the person who needs help or to charitable institutions. I am not in favor of giving to the commercials for the needy because the commercials alone are very expensive to maintain and they pay a large sum of money for that and so for their operational expenses, nothing might be given to the real need individuals.
Even if such entities having the needy commercials are not fake, they spend a lot for the commercials and that would be their priority so that they can maintain such commercials and so less amount of money actually go to the needy.

I really think there should be more for our own country. There are so many people in need here that are looked over. We should be helping our own first.
