I don't completely understand why America is at war with Iraq.
I just watched this video with American soldiers getting sniped in the head, bombed, dying in gruesome ways. What I kept thinking was, "Why are we over there? What could be worth all that death?"
This has been going on for years now and I'm still not really sure why it began. Is it revenge for 9/11? If so, aren't we done about it by now? If it was for Saddam, then why didn't we leave as soon as he died? Maybe it's just for oil?
If it's to 'protect America' how exactly is it doing that? Every time I watch a video from Iraq it's of soldiers firing bombs and rifles and enemies they can't see., or driving around and getting bombed. How does that protect America?
Someone please explain why America is at war with Iraq. What is worth thousands of people dying? And how is anyone 'protecting' America by shooting blindly and getting bombed?

America is at war in Iraq just to hold control of the Iraqi oil field...u know oil is known as black gold..u know Iraq has nothing to do with the 9/11 accident and even Saddam didn't had relations with osama bin laden..and there were found no weapons of destruction too...this make it very easy to understand the situation.

I too agree with you jounty. The scenarios happen there can easily be conclude even my 11 years old cousin. They aim for conquering blck gold and don't want let iraq have it because america afraid by having that, iraq will become threaten for america in few years ahead. That was bush mistake and greedy bush will never stop until he taste the bullets in battefields itself.

i think that since the first Iraq war in 1991? well Desert Storm the United States was denied total victory and was pulled out before the fall of Bagdad..well i think Sadaam H. was had a big target every since Bush #41 was in..then came Bush #43 and 911 and then this escallated over WMD (which were never found) and some peopls hatred of the fact Sadaam was thumbing his nose at us...well, we had him in a no fly zone and he could not move any troups without us knowing about it..satillites? but those are just my view..what do I know?

It's a really screwed up situation. We're there because the American public believed the pre-war intelligence about Saddam Hussein having like to Al-Qaeda and manufacturing Weapons of Mass Destruction. A bunch of faulty intelligence caused us to believe this and under this false premise we invaded. Then we found out that Saddam never had weapons of mass destruction and there was no real link with Al-Qaeda. Then our whole reason for going into Iraq was thrown up in smoke. The spin machine quickly gave the oldest war motive of all "To Preserve democracy and freedom." When all other reasons cease to exist, say it's for the good of democracy. So, to answer your question there's no reason to be in Iraq right now since all our reasons were based on faulty intelligence. It's a real mess now because if we leave, the country will fall into anarachy (creating a real security threat), but if we stay more and more innocent people die. It's just a real pickle.

it is because geroge w bush's fault, he wants to control the oil on other country and he like to fight like his old man there is no point in this at all, it is not about revenge for 9/11 he didnt even do anything about that, it is not procting america if is he should leave the troops here in the state to do that, somone should send him over there with cheny because this dumb and pointless, there is nothing we get out of it, bien still alive havent capture him, he is the one that bomb the towers not saddam.

Your question is a good one, but I don't think anyone really has an answer unfortunately. I do agree though that it is mostlyl just because of the oil fields. Why isn't America/George Bush doing anything in Darfur? Because there is nothing in it for him? Can it really be that selfish? I wish not but I fear that it is true.
