Hello fellow writers: I just joined Helium this past week, but haven't done anything on the site yet. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips about the site. For example, how do you make money: only from writing or can you also earn from reading others' articles? What topics do you write about when you are on the site? I write for Gather.com and Associated Content, but haven't done too much yet. I am ready to get into writing mode...what tips can you share with me for succeeding?

I won't say Helium is a complete waste of time, but you really have to do a ton of work there to make any kind of money. My advice would be to use Helium as a practice site for your articles which you can then sell at AC. AC will not only pay you much better than Helium, they now have a bonus program. It's a much faster growing site than Helium, so the money should continue to be better there, going forward.

I'm also a new member of both Helium and AC. I've been too intimidated to write for either site. It's all new to me and I'm too afraid I'm going to do it wrong. I also haven't the first clue where to start or how to start. It really seems overwhelming but I want to look into it more and try to get my courage up to try something out.
Good luck to you!!
