I just can't shake how saddened I am by this outcome. It's an outrage, and how some people can be happy and high-five eachother???!! I don't get how this is a positive outcome for anyone. www.presstelegram.com/news/ci_5149724

Hopefully, I am not rocking the boat with this post. First, let me say I do not support violence or hate. What those teens did was cruel and disgusting. However, I do believe the sentencing was a good choice. Teenagers emotions are still developing, and the chemical changes that are effecting their body skew judgement so that often times they make bad choices. That is why they need guidance as they develop into adults. The fact that they are getting a second chance should not be a negative thing. That they are getting counseling and will be taught racial tolerance all seem like good ways to reform these children rather than making them hardened criminals by throwing them in jail to rot. I'm not saying they will be magically cured, but at least they have a chance to still thrive in society.

Oh no!! Unless these kids are put away and pay the price while at the same time LEARN HISTORY and therefore don't repeat the same mistakes generations and generations afterwards NOTHING IS SOLVED!!!!

If they put those kids in prison all it will result in is turning them into adult versions of how they are now. They will have no chance of rehabilitation, they will be full of resentment of the system and when they get out they will commit more crimes.

Oh but letting them off the hook and having a celebration is going to teach them that what they have done is wrong?? Pahleez.

I completely agree, it is definitely an outrageous sentencing! I don't see how the judge could say "had it been an adult crime...", being that 2 or 3 of the kids were 18, the legal adult age. It's rediculous! I don't think I'll ever understand some of the things that occur in this world. Some of the laws around my area are rediculous.

that to me is just crazy those teens need to be in jail awhile longer to teach them that no matter how old you are you just cant get away with things like that with just a slap on the wrist. that was horrible things they did
