I think gossip is talking embarassing thinkgs about people behind thier back but it could be counted as interesting conversation too. How would you differentiate these?

Gossip is when you talk about other people. If you tell stories about your own experiences than it is interesting conversation. Gossip is just meant to pry into other people's lives for entertainment of some.

I think gossiping to me is telling things that people have found out about others lives that is no business of theirs ...and its certainly isn't their business to be telling anyone either ... thats more like maliciuos gossip then ...which to me is a very bad trait for someone to have or use... Talking is when to people share in a conversation about what is going on in their lives like their kids ,work ,household events ,school functions ,talking about shopping or stores they like ..things of that nature

Gossip is information you do not need to know, or that will damage someone's reputation if it is known. It has negative connotations. Yes, it is interesting conversation, but that does not make it good. If you have an opinion about someone, make sure that if you express it people know that is only your opinion.

gossip is such kind of conversation out of which u gain nothing. its a fruitless talk. interesting conversation is one from which u gain knowledge about the surroundings and people around u while expressing opinion is throwing light on a topic from ur perspective.

For me, there is positive gossip and negative gossip. Negative gossip are things like rumors and talking trash behind someone's back. But there can be positive gossip, too, if you are saying kind things about someone and spreading the word about them in a positive light. I think that either thing could fall under the category of 'interesting conversation', but i personally would rather stay away from negative gossipping as much as possible, even if it feels like it might be interesting to listen to! *laugh*
