During the months when I was sliding into the depressive episode that made me realize I needed help, I was reading a lot less fiction that I previously had. I've always read a lot of different things, but during this period I would be excited to get new books by my favorite novelists and I would lose interest almost immediately. I was talking to a patron at the library and he said something about havnig depression and not being able to read fiction, which made me wonder if there was something about depression that makes it harder to imagine yourself into a fictional world. Has anyone ellse noticed this?

i suppose it's different for everybody because whenever i get really depressed, that's when i crave to escape to another world. whether it's books or movies, i find myself engrossed in them whenever i'm really down.
