I think in general John Travolta has been in a lot of bad movies. He has put in a few above average performances though. I think Pulp Fiction was probably his best.
Some other good performances of his would be Grease (naturally), Michael and Be Cool.
I honestly have a hard time sitting through any of his movies, and believe it or not I actually like him.

I liked Pulp Fiction well enough, sarah, but I think my favorite is Michael. I think that's the title. It was the one where he played an angel. I love that one.Maybe my reason for liking it so much is because there was a lot of talk about pies in it.

Oh, I can't believe that you posted this discussion three years ago:) When I just noticed this title, I thought it was a new discussion from you:) I think my favorite movie of John Travolta is Face Off. I think it is a nice movie and John Travolta can act both good and bad man quite well. Sometimes he is so innocent, but sometimes he can be very evil. This is the quality of a good actor.
I love China

Saturday night fever!! hands down. i first fell in love with him when he was on the sitcom Welcome back Kotter. or was it cotter? most people probably dont even realise it as im much older here than most. when he was Vinnie Barbarino i thought he was so hot. what a crush i had.

I saw welcome back Kotter but I didn't have a crust on him then. It took Grease for me to have a crush on him. By the time I saw Urban Cowboy, I had fallen for him hard.

John Travolta is one of my most favorite actors so I watched all of his movies including the boring ones. My most favorite is FACE OFF where he was the protagonist as well as the antagonist.
The one that I dislike most is "Battlefield Earth" where he was cast as a hideous alien.
Looks like Travolta is not doing any good movies nowadays. Do you have any idea why?

There must be offering him really bad scripts these days or roles that he has already played and he is turning them down.Or he could be too busy with his second love, flying.

I do love that role. I have to say though that Michael would be my favorite. Though my soon to be sis-in-law would kick my butt. She is the ultimate Grease fan.

Travolta really has played some iconic characters in some great movies as well as a few turkeys. My favourite Travolta movie would have to be Phenomenon as it is such a touching storline and shows that Travolta is more than adept at handling roles which don't rquire over the top, bravado performances.
But then I also enjoyed him in Face/Off especially as it also stars Nic Cage.

I really like Phenomenon. It's such a sweet gentle movie, and I love the way he changes when he starts to get so much more mental capacity. It's amazing. I think he and Kyra Sedgewick do very well together in the movie.
Also, they are pretty corny, but I really enjoyed the Look Who's Talking movies, particularly the first.

Grease. That's one of the few musicals I actually like.
