Do we have anybody that used to talk on the cb radio? Or still does? I used to love that stuff. Do the truckers still use the cb radios?

My friend used to have one and we would get on it all the time. My handle was Little Texas until I foundout there was some badass lady who already had that handle. That scared me enough to try and think of a new name. Never did though, that was the end of my CB radio days. I am pretty sure truckers still use them.

That's a big 10-4. This here's 'crazynurse.' I'm rolling down Hwy 70 with the hammer down. I just spotted a bear in the air so I'll be stopping for some black water, till he passes. Ha Ha I used to love to listen to my father's CB when we traveled on vacation. We would tune in to the station on which the truckers used and listen! I know that as of about 5 years ago they still used CBs, as my hubby and I and my parents were traveling tandem in our campers and we were lost in Houston. Dad got on his CB and asked a trucker going in the opposite direction for help finding our way and he answered us and straightened us out! LOL, a trip down memory lane for me!!! When I was growing up, my dad was a fisherman and this was how they all talked to each other, on the cb's. We use to have one in our house and sometimes when it was late we could pick up conversations from really far away. It use to be great as a kid to sit there and listen and try and figure out where everyone was from by their accent.

My Dad was a truck driver and this post brings back a lot of memories. He knew all the lingo!! His CB name was "fencepost". We kids thought that was hilarious!! I would think truckers are still using their cb radios, because they can get so much information from them about road conditions, accidents, etc. :-)

I'm not sure if CB Radio is still widely used but some of the slang is still funny enough to make me laugh... Here is a link for those who still like the stuff and want to re-learn it: http://www.cbgazette.com/slang.html Enjoy your trip down memory lane! :)

I dont think they have the use they did Truckers mostly use vhf now. It is a licensed airway. They do have cbs but the kids have access with the walkie talkies and the airwaves are full.

Yes, I use to talk on the ol' CB radio an excessive amount. I was an independent trucker on the road for weeks at a time. The CB broke up the boredom. Truckers still do use the CB but cell phones and sat phones in the trucks along with an easing of amateur radio licensing requirements have reduced CB use some from the 60's, 70's, 80's & even the 90's IMHO.

me and ma mate sit and talk on his cb radio he once managed to get onto a airplane frequency though so we quickly changed it cuz he thought he would get into loads of trouble for even tuning into it... we do laugh when we tune into the taxi frequencies over here though cuz all the taxi drivers in our area are asian and we can only just understnad their accent and we are usually listening to it when we are drunk!!! ha ha ha but they are fun and he also has one in his car but it wont work but he says he's kinda glad it doesnt now cuz he could get into a lot of trouble if the police found it
