I prefer to make my own so I can doctor it up according to the mood I'm feeling at the time. Peppermint extract, vanilla extract, extra sugar, etc. are all yummy additions. Although they are easier and more convenient, somtimes the mixes taste artificial to me. They taste fake and don't have enough chocolate.

Yes, I agree! I like adding other stuff to my mix, including cinnamon.
I think powdered milk just tastes gross.

I was never fond of powdered milk myself. As a child my dad would have to run to 7-11 because I wouldn't drink the powdered stuff.

I love homemade hot chocolate. I have some mixes in the house for a quick-fix for the kids, but generally, I make homemade.
